Luke 18 pt 1

The contrast between God and this unjust judge. From lesser to the greater argument.  We don’t have to wear God down. As you pray God you open your heart to God. God can change your heart or prayer through His word or circumstances. When God doesn’t show us the answer persist. Yet if He does, do not persist. 

The Pharisee and the Tax Collector. Self righteousness. Addressed to those who believe in a work based religion. There is a Pharisee lurking in all of us. There is no such thing as an ok fail. 

Luke 18:13 But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’

Atonement and humility. 

The picture of the tax collector is dispised. The audience would of been shocked. The first is last and last is first. There is no way I can myself. Matthew Davis. 

Augustine. Beating your heart is an acknowledgement of your sinful heart. 

Childlike in our search for God’s kingdom. Infants and children have no concept of pride but they are sinful.
