Don’t let God’s blessings become an idol. God actually blesses Solomon with wealth and fame along with wisdom.
Like Paul said it’s not how you started the race but how well you finish.
Only he must not acquire many horses for himself or cause the people to return to Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since the Lord has said to you, ‘You shall never return that way again.’ And he shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn away, nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold.
Deuteronomy 17:16-17 ESV
Where is God’s presence in our life? Your temple can be very grand but only God knows what is inside.
Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
1 Corinthians 3:16 ESV
Do you know the lineage of Christ Jesus?
Why is it so difficult to trust and obey God? It is hard to deny yourself. To not have control. Is it our pride?
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

God desires your obedience.
We can see the temple take many forms throughout the Bible.

He grew up with a golden spoon.
Solomon’s downfall was his success. He trusted in God’s gift.
Vv1 why start with this marriage. Was it political strategy? His father was the conquerer. King David known as a Goldy king. Solomon was a wise king.
Vv3 high places were only condemned after the temple was built. The stigma is there.
Vv26 interesting that there was no judgement mentioned. Was Solomon merciful.
Discernment – to distinguish.
Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

Vv45 they had intellectual knowledge. It is an intimate knowing. Can you learn to swim from a book?
Salvation by grace through faith. Read Scripture 1 what does it mean 2 how does it connect to the Canon 3 what does it mean to me? As you progress in life you need to dig deep into Scripture. Spiritual babes take milk. Do not take comfort in your sound church.
Mums are the Frontline when kids come with questions. Fathers need to support wives.
Lazarus was raised from the dead, why is it harder to believe the Lord raised Himself?
What is the implications of the ressurection? Jesus is God. God is sovereign. The fulfilling of Scripture. The sign that the price has been paid, death has been conquered. Sins have been paid fully.
Death is not the end. Have you spoken about the hope we have in Jesus?
On the road to Emmaus. The two disciples were fiercely debating. As iron sharpens iron. Vv18 God is patient. Vv27 it’s like reading the Bible before and after God open your eyes to the truth.
Vv43 what struck this centurion so much? The supernatural events, the forgiveness, the last prayer and giving up of spirit.
Calvary is full of paradoxes. Even the taunts from the Pharisees were significant.
Jesus is buried. Isa 53:9. Luke makes it very clear that Jesus was dead. Joseph was burning his bridges with the Pharisees. God can use anyone to help. Help us to share the gospel more God.
The wrath of God was satisfied by the propeciation of our sins. The reconciliation of God with man.
Why mention Simonn of Cyrene. A prosolite. Luke may have been familiar with him. We assume Simon would of witnessed the cruxifiction. Rufus and Alexander were his sons, mentioned in Acts.
Bearing children is a blessing from God. What or why would these women want to be barron? Could it be the Roman conquering where they were starved to death? Could it be the Holocaust?
Jesus is green. Israel personified as the dry fruitless tree. The fire of judgement. The dry wood will burn up faster.
Vv34 who did Christ pray for? He prayed for the elect.
Vv40 we are saved because of God. No baptism no sinners prayer. If you don’t come to this conclusion v41 then you won’t be saved. The thief was concerned about the other’s repentance. He acknowledged Christ as Lord. The fruits are plentiful here.
Vv8 Herod a Hasmonean, suppressed his conscience. A morbid curiosity, a deafining silence. Herod had knowledge of God but he continued to reject. It is quite sobering to see ppl reject the gospel over and over.
Vv18 a perverted sense of justice. Vv21 would you follow the crowd? Do not think like the world.
